What if my kids under 16 already have social media accounts? What then?
What if my kids under 16 already have social media accounts? What will happen then?
Once the ban comes into force (which won't happen until at least December 2025), any child under 16 won't be able to access social media Full stop.
That means they won't be able to create new accounts and that they won't be able to log into their existing accounts either.
We don't know what that will look like in practice and each social media app will probably do it a differently.
My guess is that all children's accounts will be frozen until they prove they have turned 16.
So your 13 year old now won't be able to access their account until 16 when they have to go back and delete all their embarrassing posts they made 3 years ago.
Social media ban workshops are the best way to educate your staff, students and parents about the ban. Book in for a social media ban presentation for your school, organisation or local government.
