How long are you spending on your phone?
We talk about how too much screen time is bad for you, but have you ever stopped to figure out just how much time you're spending looking at your phone?
Both Apple and Android devices have functions that record your screen time.
The average Australian spends just shy of 3 hours on their phone every single day.
Now 3 hours, yeah it's a lot but it doesn't seem that shocking. But lets do the maths.
3 hours every day on your phone over the course of the year equates to 45 days spend on your phone.
45 days!!! I don't know many people who wouldn't kill to get an hour of extra time back, let alone 45 days per year.
As you might expect, younger generations spend more time on their phones with Gen Zs in the US spending 6 hours and 5 minutes on their phone each day.
So how can you go about figuring out your screen time?
On Apple devices, go to settings, and find screen time. You might have to switch it on first.
On Android devices, go to settings, then Digital wellbeing and you can see your screen time and app timers.
You can then see your screen usage patterns over a number of weeks, and the types of apps you're spending the most time on.
To figure out how many days per year you're losing to your phone, take your daily screen time x 365 days per year, and divide by 24 hours in each day.
